K. Thomas Vaughn, EVP, Special Projects
Tom Vaughn joined the Badlands team as EVP of new business development in Q2 of 2014. He is focused on managing existing business relationships, acquisitions, and generating strategic business opportunities, which exploit Badlands’ strategy and corporate vision. Tom originally invested in Badlands in Q4 of 2013, and has been increasing his assistance to the enterprise ever since. He has introduced investors and worked with existing corporate partners.
During the last four years, Tom has provided similar business development services to a variety of energy companies with operations in North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming and Colorado, where he has a large network of relationships. In this regard his biggest efforts have been focused in North Dakota.
Prior to his recent business development efforts on behalf of various energy companies, Tom was a corporate lender for over 35 years. He generated both secured and unsecured loans as a senior lending executive at large financial institutions including Citicorp, Heller Financial, The Royal Bank of Scotland Group, U.S Bank and CIT. His business development efforts resulted in the generation of several billion dollars of loan products to large corporations in a variety of industries, but largely focused on loan products to energy, agricultural, transportation, and electronics companies.
Tom obtained a B.S. in Economics from Montana State University. Tom was elected to the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and he was commissioned as a 2nd Letiuent in the United States Army. He also took graduate business classes at New York University, accounting classes at Denver University, and many other business development seminar programs sponsored by his employers.
