Jim Loughead is accomplished and knowledgeable in international business for oil, gas, refining, chemicals, in the areas of: sales and project management with over 40 years of experience.
Jim is Executive VP Projects and Engineering responsible for ensuring all Badlands projects meet safety, cost and operability objectives.
Jim has been head of Loughead Consulting, LLC for over 2 years prior to joining Badlands NGLs. His clients included AWS and HQC and Coreworx. AWS is a US firm providing EPC services, fabrication of steel, pipe, tanks, vessels, and modules both domestically and internationally. China Huanqui Contracting and Engineering Corporation (HQC) which is part of CNPC (China National Petroleum Corporation), is an internationally recognized firm providing EPC services for megaprojects throughout the world. Coreworx is an international software company providing solutions to de-risk and manage projects more effectively.
Jim was previously Vice President – Project Development for Vinmar Projects, Ltd. Located in Houston, Texas. He was a Project Director for a $1 Billion Polypropylene Grass Roots Facility in Canada. Vinmar Projects began in 2001 in order to provide expertise to various greenfield projects around the world. They provide feasibility studies and initial planning, selection of EPC partners, and oversight to the project during the construction phase. Vinmar also helps secure project financing through their global banking contacts and by guaranteeing future revenue for the project via an off-take contract. The Vinmar off-take model gives financiers comfort by assuring that debt can be serviced, reduces marketing pressure on the project initiator, and allows Vinmar to continue to fulfill its core mission -- which is to market and distribute petrochemical products worldwide. Vinmar has equity interests in facilities as well as owning plants.
He was head of sales for Samsung Engineering America (SEA), VP Business Development. He created a sales team and business plan for Samsung to continue to develop and expand their engineering, procurement and construction market share in the US market and internationally. He was responsible for supporting the relationship building and value creation for projects with International Oil Companies with headquarters in the US.
He managed the sales team of eight people in achieving goals and objectives based on key performance indicators and meeting the corporate objectives. In addition, he has achieved individual goals and objectives in doubling the size of the office and increasing profitability over the past two years. He has been instrumental in introducing Samsung to a new markets, countries, and clients. In Mozambique, Africa, he sold front end developing engineering services for a 10,000 ton per day high ash coal to diesel gasification facility. The value of the project is approximately $2 billion dollars. He developed and sold the first outside projects to LyondellBasell for performing engineering services for major international projects.
His career has spanned over 40 years in the engineering and construction business covering power, chemical, petrochemicals, refining, gas processing, LNG, and offshore areas. His experience includes working for strong EPC operations such as Technip, KBR, and Stearns Rogers.
His positions have included estimating, scheduling, operations, sales and marketing as well as project director.
Jim graduated from the University of Colorado in 1975 with a BA degree in Mathematics. He continued his studies while working and obtained a Master in Business Administration with emphasis in finance in 1982 from the University of Colorado in Denver, Co.
Jim is an expert in managing others to obtain superior results and exceeding expectations. He has a strong background developing win strategies and closing deals for major international multibillion dollar projects. He is very creative and develops teams that perform exceptionally well.
