Leadership and Bios
Mark Taylor is a knowledgeable project leader with experience in international and domestic projects for oil, gas, refining, chemical, petrochemical, environmental and power generation. His experience spans over 50 years and over 25 separate countries worldwide.
Mark will serve as project manager for the Badlands' alpha olefin project.
Mark is the Project Manager responsible for managing the development of technical engineering deliverables associated with assigned projects including the management of technical scope, quality plan, schedule and budget while meeting the expected Company standards for safety, operability and maintainability. Other responsibilities include:-
Implementation of project control systems to monitor project progress against target schedule and budget.
Ensuring work is executed consistent with contractual obligations, terms and conditions.
Implementation of corporate project safety protocols and for scheduling mandatory safety meetings with the project team.
Accountability for project administration, invoice review, time entry approvals, and project rate sheets.
Identification of project risk, develop and implement risk response action plans.
Develop the Project Execution Plan, Project Quality Plan and other standard operating procedures.
Ensure the flow of communication to stakeholders, upper management, between project team members, and between peers
Proactively manage changes in project scope, identification of potential issues, and developing contingency plans that account for Company contractual requirements.
Successful negotiation on behalf of Company for any change orders as they arise during project execution.
Mark most recently was Project Director for IHI E&C prior to joining Badlands NGLs where he spent a significant amount of time in India supervising the design efforts of IHI’s High Value Engineering Contractor (HVEC) for the Dominion Cove Point LNG Export Facility. He was also responsible for ensuring that the HAZOP and LOPA issues were answered for the same project. IHI E&C is an engineering, procurement and construction company that is an integral part of the IHI Corporation’s global network of companies.
Prior to joining IHI E&C, Mark was Project Director for Triten International Alliance Group (IAG) where he completed a $1 Billion 650 MMSCFD Gas Processing facility built in Fort Stockton, West Texas and several smaller midstream enhanced oil recovery projects in the Gas Processing sector. IAG is a global leader in the development and program management of refinery, alternative/renewable energy processing facilities, gas processing projects and rapid recovery from catastrophic events.
In addition, Mark provided oversight and leadership for the Engineering alliance for all DuPont Gulf Coast sites from Florida to South Texas during which time some 800 individual projects were undertaken for DuPont. Mark had direct supervision of 8 site teams in addition to the Home Office engineering team, totaling approximately 200 personnel overall.
Mark has held various positions throughout his career ranging from Piping Engineer, Construction Engineer, Project Engineer, Project Engineering Manager, Project Manager, Interface Manager, Proposal Manager, Program Manager and Project Director. He has most recently been involved with LNG Liquefaction and Regasification projects but has worked extensively in the petrochemical areas on projects including:-
Installation of a new (Autoclave) reactor for LDPE production including Solvent Recovery unit, Thermal Oxidizer, extruder modifications and VA monomer storage and injection facilities
Expansion of a 100 MM lb/yr PVC production facility utilizing advanced slurry stripping improvements
PVC Plant Resin quality improvements projects
Polypropylene plant installation (Unipol process)
HDPE loop reactor (Philips process) modifications
LLDPE Pelletizing and Storage facility
VCM plant utility improvements
Paraxylene Plant installation
Petroleum Resins plant rebuild after fire damage
MDI Plant revamp
Mark graduated from the University of Teesside in England in 1967 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. His education continued with studies in Practical Project Management at Texas Tech University College of Business Administration. Mark is also a graduate of the Aker Kvaerner Advanced Project Management Academy. He is a Certified Project Manager for Parsons Corp and Member of the Project Management Institute.
